Mission Statment
The Frontenac - Addington Trappers Council was established in 1980 as a non profit
organization representing trappers in the Frontenac - Addington area.  Over the past 40
years the council has became involved in many conservation projects, public
education projects and still remains strongly committed to these aims and values today.

1) Foster conservation in the Frontenac-Addington Area
2) Encourage the wise use of land and resources.
3) Maintain and enhance fur bearers, wildlife, and fish populations and habitats for the
betterment of trappers and residents alike
4) Maintain close ties with auction houses, buyers, and suppliers within the industry for the
benefit of our members
5) Maintain close ties with the O.F.M.F. and the M.N.R.& F. to help shape sensible and
reasonable laws and regulations pertaining to our industry
6) To promote at all times a positive and humane image of the trapping tradition and the
necessity of it in wildlife control and habitat conservation

THE FACTS
There are more fur bearing animals in Ontario now than when the white man first came.
This is the result of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Natural Resoures and Forestry and the Ontario
Trappers' Association in developing a true conservation program over the past 50 years.

There are no endangered species among Ontario's fur bearing animals.

The Trappers of Ontario lead all North America in Humane Trapping
We practice, support and utilize the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS)
The Greatest Danger today is under harvesting and new laws bases on emotion rather that biological evidence.
